Portland Portrait Photographer // Brit Sue // In Home

I recently attended an amazing workshop in NYC this past week and it left me feeling like I needed to shoot a ton more personal work. A lot of times I’ll have this urge to go shoot, then I tell myself, Phil why bother. Today I had that urge and I told myself Phil, make it happen. I texted my friend Brit Sue and told her I wanted to document her in her apartment for an hour. I had recently been listening to Clint Mansell’s “The Last Man” over and over today, and I think that’s what inspired me most. Click play on the audio as you scroll through the images, pausing on each images for a little longer than you normally would. It’ll tell the story better.

So glad you said you were listening to Mansell. I LOVE Mansell as a soundtrack to get inspired to, and it really changed the way I looked at this set. Beautiful photos, more personal work please!

I love love LOVE your work! You inspire me so much in terms of use of natural lighting, breaking free from the 3 quarter rule, and use of composition. I could go on for ever. I loved this personal set you put up. As well as playing the song with it. I fell in love..more so. And tell your friend that she is beautiful! That is all..for now :)

beautiful. the light is especially so, and the way you've set her in it. a great reminder to create for ourselves as well.
